Eli Schantz is a MD/PhD trainee with the Indiana University School of Medicine and the Department of Philosophy at The Ohio State University. His interests span the philosophy of medicine, but generally center on its intersections with metaphysics and the philosophy of language: how terms like harm, exploitation, and disease are--and should be--understood in healthcare policy and practice, and how our answers to these questions underly debates across medical ethics. Outside academics, he is heavily involved in grassroots healthcare advocacy and organized medicine, and is always willing to share a cup of tea over a game of chess.
